I real a book named The Diary of A Young Girl. It was write by Anne Frank. Anne Frank was Jewish. She was
born on June 12, 1929 in the German city of Frankfurt. Her father was a businessman, he could trace his family in the
city’s archives back to the Franks left Frankfurt. Mrs. Frank with the two girls joined her mom in Aachen, near the
Belgian border. Mr. Frank went directly to Holland. In the spring of 1934, the Franks were reunited and settled in
Amsterdam.
The Diary of A Young Girl is the diary from when Anne was 13 years old. Anne lived happily in Amsterdam like
any other girl. She attended the Montessori School, had a host of friends, and discovered with delight that boys liked her.
But things changed once the Germans invaded Holland in 1940. She was compelled to leave the Montessori School and
attend the Jewish Lyceum. In 1941 those arrested were taken to reception camps at Westerbork and Vught and from
there shipped eastward into Germany. Anne’s father made plans for his family’s safety. They went into hiding at the
building on the Prinsengracht Canal. On July 5, 1942, the Germans summoned sixteen-year-old Morgot (Anne’s sister) to
report for deportation. The following morning the Franks slipped away from their home and went into hiding in the "secret
annexe." They and another family lived cloistered in the "Secret annexe" of an old office building. Cut off from the outside
world. They faced hunger, boredom, the constant cruelties of living in confined quarters, and ever-present threat of
discovery and death.
I like the book. The way it is written, is so easy to understand. Also, perhaps this is a diary of a young girl, so it all
tells the true thinking and feelings. The first time I saw the title of the book. I though it is a funny book. I thought that a
young girls diary in going to be silly like mine also. But, when I read the introduction, I notice that this book is in another
point for viewing war. How war made a difference in a 13 years old girl’s life.
