Bilingual education is a class taught in two languages. This class will have the student’s native language and the target

language. It’s useful for the students who arenew immigrants because they don’t know that much English.  I’m an

immigrant also, for me the bilingual education is very important.  I remember when I first came to the United States I was

in a regular class. I had the American teachers, but maybe it is because of the phonetics, I learned English in China before

but I still couldn’t understand what the teachers were saying. After few days I transferred to a bilingual class. I started to

learn things from the class by the teacher’s explaining in my native language. It helped me on learning vocabulary also. It

gave me an easier way for learning when I was in a hard time for getting in the American education form. Just use me for

an example, bilingual education is important for the new immigrants. Somehow, it’s not only important because we need

help on English. It also has a lot of benefits for us. For example, it maintains out native language skill and it increases

learning of academic areas. For some students even they have ability to go to the regular class, but they want to keep on

learning in bilingual because of the reasons above.

Out of school bilingualism is important also. If you know more than one language, it meant you got one more skill for

looking for different jobs. For careers, in most of the time if you know more than one language would be much easier for

it. Even out of jobs, if you know more anguages you could know more people from different countries because you know

their language and you could communicate with them. Also, another point for us to think about the future if we know more

languages. Just for me, I keep my skill in my native language. I make plan for going back to my native country for my life

career if I can’t do it in the United States. Then I still can get another chance in different countries and different markets. In

the different points we can see that bilingual education is so important and it can help us a lot. If we don’t have any

bilingual education, maybe a lot of students will feel lost when they first come here. Perhaps, we can’t even understand the

class when we first come here. However, bilingual education is not good for some students because they depend on it too

much. We are not supposed to be in bilingual class for too long because we should all knew that there aren’t bilingual

colleges. Also, this is United States of America, English should be our main language to learn and know.
